A neck injury suffered in Week 2 of the 2015 regular season still plagues Buffalo Bills starting safety Aaron Williams, and the team decided last Wednesday to place him on short-term injured reserve.

Williams suffered the injury in Week 2 in a loss to defending Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots, ESPN reported.

The 25-year-old safety then told The Buffalo News that the neck injury caused the entire left part of his body to feel numb.

Following the injury, Williams missed their games against the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants but was able to play in their close win over the Tennessee Titans, which improved their record to 3–2.

ESPN reported that Williams left in the first quarter facing the Titans to get his neck and shoulder checked but came back and finished the game.

Now that the former Texas Longhorn is on short-term injured reserve, he cannot participate in practice for six weeks and will not be allowed to play for eight weeks.

That means Williams' earliest possible return will be in Week 14 when they play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 13.

To fill the spot Williams left in the 53-man roster, the Bills signed 2012 sixth-round pick safety Josh Bush who was a previous member of the Denver Broncos.

According to SB Nation, Bush already experienced working with Bills head coach Rex Ryan in his time with the New York Jets from 2012 to 2014.

The Bills will next have a tall task in front of them when they try to capture their fourth win of the 2015 season.

Buffalo will go up against the unbeaten Cincinnati Bengals at home for the team's Week 6 game before heading to the road to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7 before a bye week in Week 8.

The Bills are aiming to make it to the playoffs since the last time they did was in 1999 where they lost to the Titans in the Wild Card Playoffs.
