Carrie Underwood's husband Mike Fisher says it's 'emotional' praying over their son Isaiah

Hockey player Mike Fisher opened up about his son with singer Carrie Underwood this week, and described his favourite part about being a dad.

The celebrity couple welcomed Isaiah Michael Fisher on February 27, and Fisher said he instantly felt connected as a father.

"It really, truly is a miracle from God that happens that is so cool," he told The Tennessean. "The first thing you think about now after a month is how much more you appreciate your parents and their love for you. Ultimately I believe the God the Father, his love for us changes the whole picture. It's a lot more vivid."

Weeks earlier, Fisher's wife shared the first public picture of Isaiah with her millions of fans. The sweet photo shows baby Isaiah laying against a blanket, and holding a miniature Nashville Predators hockey stick.

Because Fisher spends a lot of time on the road with the Predators, he cherishes every moment he can spend with his son.

"You come back from eight days, and it's like, holy cow, he changed so much," he said. "It's crazy how fast it goes. You almost want to slow down time a little bit... You're just cuddling together. Just being together."

He described taking naps with the baby in a La-Z-Boy recliner. "It's the best, for sure."

The 34-year-old is also overcome when he talks to God about Isaiah.

"It's emotional, praying over him," Fisher admitted. "You have tears in your eyes and it's a crazy experience."

Fisher and Underwood wed in July 2010 in Greensboro, Georgia. The "American Idol" winner has achieved phenomenal success since appearing on the reality competition - winning seven Grammys, 11 Academy of Country Music Awards, and eight American Music Awards.
