Rick's (Nathan Fillion) historic day in court, where he will serve as an important witness to a case, will keep him busy on Valentine's Day in the upcoming episode of the ABC series "Castle."

In "Witness for the Prosecution," CarterMatt reports that he will finally experience how to become a key witness to a case. The court had, apparently, summoned Rick to testify about a murder that took place several months previously. Rick will take to the task with gusto, perhaps, even more so than his usual exuberance. He thinks it is a huge boost to help send a criminal behind bars.

The promo for episode 10 shows Kate (Stana Katic) coaching her husband on the proper way to behave in court. As it is his first time, Rick is excited about the task. Kate tells him to be "charming, but not too charming." Rick listens incredulously, complaining that it will be hard for someone as amiable as him. "That's like asking Superman not to be too super," he tells Kate.

Unfortunately, Rick will soon find out that he has made a mess when important information relevant to the case surfaces. As a result, he and Kate must race against time to prevent "a miscarriage of justice." After passionately stating his piece in front of the judge and the jury, Rick may have to take back what he said for justice to be served.

In an interview with TV Line, showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter shared the milestone that they are about to establish with the airing of the upcoming episode. Rick and Kate have encountered and solved a lot of cases, but this would be the first time that they would be seen in a courtroom.

"For the first time ever in 'Castle' history, you go into a courtroom, you actually see a trial based on a case... He's an 'interesting' guy to give testimony. He has to take the stand- annnnnd it kind of goes sideways. So then there's fallout from that, some scrambling to do damage control!" Winter shared.

"Castle" season 8 episode 10 will have a special airtime on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
