Ciara cheers on Russell Wilson as Seattle Seahawks earn first win in the season

The Seattle Seahawks started off the season with two straight losses, and fans began to wonder if singer Ciara, Russell Wilson's girlfriend, is to blame for the team's bad luck. According to Rickey.org, fans feared so much for the team's future this season that they started a petition last week to break up the couple.

But over the weekend, the Seahawks dominated on the field, beating the Chicago Bears 26-0. The "Goodies" singer was present at CenturyLink Field last Sunday, all dressed up in Seahawks gear, which proved to all that no matter what people might think, she's there to support her man.

Ciara took to Instagram to post a picture of her and her friends wearing their Seahawks gear, and she captioned it, "Good times with some of the best girls I know. #Family #GoHawks."

She posted another photo of her wearing Wilson's jersey while looking out to the field and wrote, "Be Like... Go @DangeRussWilson."

Her fans were happy to see that Ciara was there to support the quarterback. One of her followers wrote, "Awww. You support your man, girl. I'm happy for you."

In another photo, the singer was all smiles as she also posed with a Seahawks teddy bear and she captioned the snap, "Go Mr. #3. Go @Seahawks! Way 2 Win!"

Apparently, fans blaming Ciara for the Seahawks' earlier losses is not something new as there have been other players whose association with a celebrity resulted in fans' criticism of their performance.

E! Online reports that fans blamed Jessica Simpson for Tony Romo's losses when they were still together, and BleacherReport said that fans thought Tom Brady played better when he wasn't married to Gisele Bundchen, while Kate Upton was blamed for Justin Verlander's inconsistent performance.

Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin gave an insight into what some fans thought of as the "girlfriend curse," telling E! Online that when Simpson used to show up at Romo's games and they didn't win, fans would instantly blame her when "she didn't catch one ball or throw one pass. But that's what they did." He went on to add that Wilson and Ciara are a "cute couple" and "look really great together."

Meanwhile, LaVar Arrington said that despite fans saying that Ciara might be a distraction to the quarterback, the former linebacker said that there is "no way" that anything or anyone can shift Wilson's focus when it comes to the game.

"You are not going to distract Russell Wilson. No way at all," he told E!
