While angels in heaven must be rejoicing over their latest addition, people here on earth whose lives Joey Feek had touched are in mourning over her loss.

Feek, 40, from the country singing duo Joey + Rory passed away on Friday, March 4, after a lengthy struggle with cervical cancer. Her husband Rory wrote on his blog This Life I Live that she breathed her last with her loved ones surrounding her.

"The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her Saviour," said Rory.

Well-known names from the country music industry extended their condolences to the Feek family. Christian singer Carrie Underwood wrote on her Twitter account (@carrieunderwood), "Praying for the family & friends of Joey Feek. A beautiful soul moved into heaven today. A beautiful legacy she left behind."

Another Christian artist Blake Shelton tweeted on his account (@blakeshelton) that he feels "so sad to hear about Joey's passing."

Jason Isbell also said the same thing on his Twitter account (@JasonIsbell): "Thinking about Rory Feek and family tonight. So sad to hear of Joey's passing."

Meanwhile, the country music stage Grand Ole Opry wrote a touching tribute for Feek on its account (@opry): "Our hearts go out to the family of Joey Feek. She was a beautiful person inside and out and will truly be missed."

Country singer and songwriter Brandy Clark, on the other hand, said that even though the Feek family suffered a great loss, they still managed to display incredible grace and fortitude.

"I am saddened by the passing of Joey Feek, but inspired by the 'for better or worse' that she and Rory Feek have shown us all," she tweeted on her account (@TheBrandyClark).

Fellow artist Matt Kennon feels the same way. "Joey Feek has passed and went to heaven. Prayers for her husband Rory Feek and their family. They are awesome," he tweeted on his account (@MattKennon).
