Dallas Mavericks trade and roster news 2015: Rick Carlisle agrees to fresh five-year pact

The Dallas Mavericks are pretty much content with what head coach Rick Carlisle has done for the franchise, and now, it looks like the marriage will last at least for five more years.

This comes with reports that the Dallas Mavericks and Carlisle came to terms on a new pact that would keep the head coach in the Dallas fold for the next five years. The new deal is worth around $35 million, which will make Carlisle the highest paid coach holding a dual executive role in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Apparently, the Mavs have no complaints about Carlisle, who took on the head coaching chores back in 2008 replacing Avery Johnson. Before agreeing to handle the Mavericks, Carlisle also had head coaching stints with the Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers before resting for a year in 2007.

Carlisle holds the distinction of being the one behind the lone title that the Mavericks have on their end, something they copped back in 2011 when they upstaged a talent-laden squad in the Miami Heat, 4–2.

On whether or Carlisle can duplicate that feat remains to be known, although that doesn't seem to be happening at least for this season.

The Mavs are not among the favorites, mainly due to their roster that is composed of players who were not among the big names they would have latched on during the offseason.

Everyone is aware that things fell apart since the Mavs got shunned by DeAndre Jordan, leaving the team scrambling for other available players in the free agent market.

Just the same, the Mavericks aren't doing that bad this season despite a rag-tag roster. They currently tote a reasonable 3–3 record thus far, despite many believing that the Mavericks would be one of the hard-luck teams this season.
