It has been four years since Vigil Games and THQ released "Darksiders 2," and since then, fans have been waiting for the third installment of the action role-playing hack and slash title. For now, THQ has been keeping mum about the highly anticipated title, as rumors claim that a legendary actor will return to voice a character in "Darksiders 3."

According to GamenGuide, "Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill, who was the voice of the Watcher in the first installment of the gaming series, is expected to be back for "Darksiders 3." Fans on Reddit described Hamill's portrayal, comparing it to the actor's voice work as Joker in the "Batman" animated series. Players said that as the Watcher, Hamill's performance is similar to a "slower, deeper voiced, and more gravelly" version of the Batman villain.

Hamill has yet to confirm if he will return to voice the Watcher in the upcoming game, but it's likely that the actor will have to find time to record as he is now gearing up to work on the ninth "Star Wars" film. He is also a very in-demand voice actor, and this year alone, Hamill voiced characters for video games "Squadron 42" and "Batman: Arkham VR," as well as for several animated series including "Miles for Tomorrow Land" and "Ultimate Spider-Man." He is also set to work on the animated "Justice League Action" series, wherein he will be voicing the Joker, Alec Holland, and Swamp Thing.

Meanwhile, other rumors indicate that the next horseman that players will get to play in "Darksiders 3" will be Strife. The first game had War and Death as the horsemen, and only Strife and Fury have not been played among the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

No word yet on when the game will be released, but after THQ Nordic was reported to be getting closer to a public listing on the Swedish stock exchange's First North listing, it was claimed that an announcement of "Darksiders 3" could be in the cards for the company.
