Derick and Jill Dillard, the stars of the upcoming TLC documentary called "Jill and Jessa: Counting On," were saddened to hear about the recent terror attacks in Paris.

As they continue to pray for the victims and their families, as well as other people who are being persecuted by the Islamic State (ISIS) militants, the young couple remain committed to strengthen their own ministry in Central America.

"With so much darkness in the world, we must press on and be faithful in sharing the message of hope with people. Jesus came and lived a perfect life, died for our sins, rose again and offers the free gift of salvation to all who believe in Him and allow Him to be in charge of their lives," they write in the Dillard Family Blog.

To continue their work, Derick and Jill continue to take rigorous Spanish classes, adding that they tried to share the Gospel to their Spanish teacher. "Last week, we were able to have my Spanish teacher and her two young sons (10 and 8 years old) over to our place to watch, 'Cuarto de Guerra' ('War Room') and to have one of our favorite dinners, 'Chicken Etti,'" they share.

The movie and dinner sparked some interesting conversations for everybody involved. Their Spanish teacher was so moved by the couple's dedication to God that she pledged to be more consistent with her church attendance and prayers.

"We talked about the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We were able to give her a Bible and she asked if she and I could study it together one hour a day in class," say Derick and Jill. "The next day in class we talked for three hours about the Bible. That night one of her sons asked if he could read with her from the Bible so she said they started in the book of Genesis and took turns reading the first six chapters. The next day this same son got up and read a couple chapters on his own, then they read together again that evening."

Derick and Jill are praising God for giving them the opportunity to reach out to more people and study His word together with them. They are praying for their Spanish teacher and her sons "to have a continued love for God's Word and desire to follow Him."

Faith is often accompanied by uncertainty, yet it is in stepping forward that we encounter the power of God. The Israelites learned this at the Jordan River, where God performed a miracle only after they demonstrated obedience.
