Last week, the Disney Channel gave "Descendants" fans a special treat as the network released the first-look footage from the upcoming sequel. In the clip, the TV-movie's stars talked about "Descendants 2," and there were sneak peeks of the new musical numbers in the 45-second video.

The video opens with Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson recording a song, and it is revealed that part of the movie takes place on a pirate ship.

"I can tell you with absolute utter confidence: This one is going to blow the first one out of the water," says Cameron.

Carson previewed the sequel's plot, saying, "The sequel is about knowing where we come from makes us who we are. We're part Auradon and part Isle."

The cast is seen rehearsing new musical numbers, and Booboo Stewart says that fans will get to see the characters grow in the new film. Meanwhile, Cameron Boyce said that going back to the Isle will be quite an experience for everyone because even though they came from that place, it doesn't seem the same anymore.

The first movie, which was directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega ("High School Musical") is about the children of four infamous villains — Mal (Cameron), the daughter of Maleficent; Evie (Carson), the daughter of Snow White's Evil Queen; Jay (Stewart), the son of Jafar; and Carlos (Cameron Boyce), the son of Cruella de Vil. In "Descendants," the four relocated from the Isle of the Lost, where all the Disney villains live, to the Kingdom of Auradon.

The next film will see the four in brand new adventures as they return to the Isle and encounter three new junior villains. Earlier this year, it was announced that Ursula's daughter, Uma (China Anne McClain), will be seen in "Descendants 2." Uma will have two henchmen: Gil (Dylan Playfair), the son of Gaston; and Harry (Thomas Doherty), the son of Captain Hook.

Ortega previously spoke with Entertainment Weekly to talk about the new characters, saying that since the Isle of the Lost is an island that has the most infamous villains, it only seems natural for a pirate gang to include the children of Ursula, Captain Hook, and Gaston.

"As our rich story unfolds, Uma, the daughter of the sea witch Ursula, proves that she's a force to be reckoned with as the leader of a pirate gang and the new self-proclaimed queen of the Isle," said Ortega.

"Descendants 2" premieres in summer 2017 on Disney Channel.
