Bungie will implement changes from top to bottom in "Destiny 2," making the sequel a refreshing experience for "Destiny" fans and newcomers alike.

According to reports, "Destiny 2" will start with a clean slate and will leave behind the characters, locations, and the majority of elements in the first game.

Kotaku was told that for "Destiny 2," Bungie will pull the same trick Blizzard Entertainment used on its action role-playing hack and slash video game "Diablo 2."

The latter essentially used the same idea as the first game, but with entirely different content and makeup altogether, which proved to be successful considering the positive reception from gamers.

Once source told Kotaku that "The Taken King" expansion for the first "Destiny" game served as its "reboot to fix small things" while "Destiny 2" will be "the overhaul to fix big things."

In terms of gameplay in "Destiny 2," Bungie will be doing a serious makeover as the sequel is set to introduce what are being referred to as "play-in destinations," a new system that will change the way the worlds work in the game.

This should fill the planets more with towns, stations, and quests comparably better than the patrol missions in the first game to keep gamers busy and hooked. This is also what game insider Shinobi1602 claimed in a post on NeoGAF.

"Right now, the way things play out, they have to introduce playspaces so that players can engage in systems or activities, but it creates a huge barrier that must be overcome on both the networking [and] design side so, they're going to do more open playspaces that incorporate towns, outposts, etc into more common areas," he explained.

Despite the big changes in "Destiny 2," Bungie will also not forget the gamers who devoted time and effort in the first game. The developer is expected to offer something to those hard workers.

"Destiny 2" is scheduled to roll out late next year. It will be exclusive to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but a PC version is also rumored to be in the works.
