Amidst the excitement and anticipation surrounding the impending release of "Destiny" on September 9, an announcement from the game's developer broke the hearts of countless fans, especially those who participated in the beta testing phase.

Prior to the announcement, rumors have already surfaced that the characters from the beta phase of the game will not be carried over to the actual full game. However, Bungie attempted to dodge pleas and criticism from fans by keeping quiet about the issue. Nonetheless, the day of reckoning has arrived. In a blog post addressed to its avid players, Bungie broke the news that subsequently made the nightmares of the majority of their fans come true.

The developer confirmed the rumors. The characters will not be included in the full game.

In explaining their decision, Bungie cited the need to not transfer the characters due to the necessary changes they made in the game.

According to Designer Tyson Green, the game has undergone minor and major tweaks following the conclusion of its beta phase.

"Since the beta, we've continued to tune and adjust the game," Green justified.

"The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there's no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst," the designer explained.

In an attempt to console their fans, Bungie shared a blog post to express their sentiments.

"If the rest of you haven't gathered the painful truth from the eulogy yet, our beta characters won't transfer to the final version of Destiny. The vaults have been cleaned out, too. Step away from this update and take a walk. Have a good cry, or howl at the Moon. We'll be here when you're done...Welcome back," the post stated.

"What you just experienced is something we've been through countless times here at Bungie. We feel your pain, and then some. Making a game requires iteration and progress. When we reinvent the world where the Guardians live, sometimes we have to leave them behind," the developers shared in an effort to commiserate with the fans.
