'Destiny: The Taken King' release time today: New DLC pack coming today

In just a few hours, avid "Destiny" fans will finally get hold of the newest expansion pack with the release of "The Taken King" DLC.

Game developer Bungie earlier announced that the much-awaited DLC release will go live at around 2 a.m. PT on Tuesday, Sept. 15, or 5 a.m. for those in the Eastern time zone, 4 a.m. for those living in the Central time zone, and 3 a.m. for players who live in the Mountain time zone.

The DLC pack is expected to be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 upon rollout.

Based on the plot of the expansion pack, Crota's powerful father Oryx, also known as the Taken King, will use the dark alien army called the Taken to seek revenge after his son died in the hands of the Guardians. Players need to look for ways to penetrate the highly secured Dreadnaught ship to be able to stop the Taken King from completely taking over the world and avenging the death of his son.

According to the game's official website:

'Destiny: The Taken King,' the next great adventure in the first-person shooter Destiny universe, introduces a new story campaign and quests, new enemies to fight, new locations to explore, new Strikes and Crucible maps, a new Raid that will put players to the ultimate test, and more. To stand up to the challenge, players will have access to three new devastating Guardian subclasses, and a massive arsenal of weapons, armor, and gear."

"Destiny: The Taken King" will be available on different packs upon release. Players can choose which pack could give them the optimum gaming experiences based on their needs and budgets. The most affordable one is the game's digital download edition, which only costs $39.99.

Those who have yet to purchase "Destiny" for the first time and would want to have the game and its expansion packs can purchase "Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition" that comes with all the DLCs and the main game for just $59.99, while adding $20 will allow players to get early access to the "Vanguard Weapons" pack that will be released next year under the "Destiny: The Taken King Digital Collector's Edition."
