Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams took to social media to tell her followers that she recently got engaged to Pastor Chad Johnson.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Williams flashed her engagement ring in a photo of her and Johnson.
"On March 21, 2018, the love of my life @chadjohnson77 proposed and I said 'Yesssssssss.....I will, I will, I will!!!'" she wrote.
The singer met Johnson last year when she attended a spiritual retreat run by the pastor in Arizona.
Williams admitted that she was attracted to Johnson when they met, but they were focused on the purpose of the retreat at the time. "I mean, he was cute, "but I did not go to flirt with the pastor!" she told People.
Johnson, who had served as a chaplain for sports teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers and L.A. Dodgers, kept in touch with Williams after the retreat and pursued her after being encouraged by a friend.
"I thought she had dissed me. So I was embarrassed, and I didn't reach back out to her because I thought I'd ruined the friendship," he added.
The singer and the pastor began exchanging messages on social media and went on to have late-night conversations on FaceTime. Johnson recalled that they did not see each other face to face until almost three months later.
The couple went on their first official date in July when they attended a wedding in the Dominican Republic. That was the time that the couple shared their first kiss and Johnson told Williams that his search for a life partner was over.
Johnson had planned to involve Williams' family in his proposal to the singer. Last month, the pastor traveled to Williams' hometown in Rockford, Illinois to ask for her family's blessing.
On the day of the proposal, Johnson took Williams to the Pebble Beach, California, hotel where he first texted her. He got down on one knee and presented Williams with a 5-carat engagement ring.
Williams has already picked a dress and said that plans for her wedding day are moving quickly. "Why wait? I want to get married now, but he wants a wedding!" the singer said, according to Daily Mail.
