Many are anticipating DirecTV support to become available on the Roku streaming platform this year, despite the company giving a specific date for this launch. Meanwhile, a user of Roku found a workaround that lets him use DirecTV on the platform.

DirecTV Now is a popular streaming service that was launched in late 2016. The cable alternative features four different packages that contain a number of channels, ranging from 60 to more than 120. Among the channels currently available on the service are CNN, Disney, AMC, MTV, and many others. It also offers several movies or TV shows that can be watched by subscribers at any time from multiple devices.

Unfortunately, DirecTV Now is not among the media players that may be used on the Roku streaming device.

At the 2017 Consumer Electronic Show back in January, DirecTV Now announced that they would soon be having Roku support. Several weeks after their announcement, customer service representatives of DirecTV Now shared that the streaming service would be available on Roku by March.

At the time, the announcement from DirecTV Now was supported by a post on the Roku blog site claiming that the streaming service would have Roku support by the first quarter of 2017. However, the first quarter of the year has passed, and April will be ending soon. Still, there are no updates on when exactly DirectTV Now will become available on Roku.

However, because of the previous announcements, it is anticipated that DirecTV Now is already working on getting Roku support before this year ends.

Meanwhile, a Reddit user found a workaround to let DirecTV Now stream on his Roku device. According to texan0322, the PlayOn allows DirecTV Now to stream on Roku. However, there are no guides to set it up.

DirecTV Now is anticipated to be on Roku this 2017.
