'DOOM' multiplayer beta: Screenshots, gameplay details and first impressions on the first-person shooter

Tons of information about the "DOOM" multiplayer beta have come out following its three-day run.

Overall, players who got the try the first-person shooter are one in saying that it is nothing but action-packed, fast-paced and downright fun.

Gamers who wandered through the settings of the game also found technical details including the one allows them to choose on which maximum frame rate the game will play, and the choices were 60, 90, 120 or 144 FPS.

"DOOM" also allows players to change the game's quality when it comes to lights, shading, shadows, post process, particles, effects quality and many more.

Gameplay-wise, the "DOOM" multiplayer beta proved that the shooter is both nostalgic but new at the same time, having been able to stand out from the previous "DOOM" entries.

"DOOM" is being heavily compared to Epic Games's upcoming first-person shooter "Unreal Tournament." In terms of weaponry, PC Gamer's Tom Senior and Phil Savage believe that the guns in the "DOOM" multiplayer "don't feel as powerful or lethal."

It turns out that "DOOM" players can start with a rocket launcher, a flashy and powerful weapon that makes other items in the armory ineffective or weaker than they actually are.

However, the constant availability of armor power-ups as well as health and armor pickups are a plus seeing that these pickups are most useful in arena deathmatches.

Apart from the intense and fast-moving combat in "DOOM," the multiplayer beta also gave fans a good look at the amazing environment that backdrops the action.

Early in the multiplayer beta testing, a bunch of "DOOM" screenshots made rounds online, showing levels that are both creepy and cool and ones that will make a demon feel right at home. One of the levels is the Infernal, which has blood for waterfalls and skulls for decorations.

"DOOM" will be released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 13, 2016.
