Congratulations are in order for Jase and Missy Robertson's son Reed from "Duck Dynasty" since he has just gotten engaged to his long-time girlfriend Brighton Thompson over the holidays.

According to PEOPLE, Reed got down on his knees and asked for Brighton's hand in marriage during a stroll at Central Park. He proposed to her while offering her a 3-carat diamond ring that has been an heirloom in Brighton's family for generations.

The young couple (Reed is 20 while Brighton is 19) designed the unique setting together in Nashville this fall. However, the engagement still came as a surprise because Reed's new fiancée did not see the ring until he proposed on Dec. 22.

"I wanted to do it before Christmas because I knew she thought it was happening then, and I wanted to make sure she was surprised," Reed shared. "We are so excited to start our lives and our family together as we enjoy this unforgettable period of time."

Reed cannot contain his happiness, and on his personal Instagram account (@officialreedrob), he shared a photo of the ring with Brighton on the background. "I couldn't be more excited to marry this amazing woman," he wrote. "My fiancée is a babe in every way," he said.

Brighton shared the same photo on her account (@bright1thompson). She wrote, "This is my fiancé Reed, he told me he loves me so much he's giving me his last name. And I said YES!"

She shared another photo of the proposal and captions it, "December 22nd, 2015 is my favorite day. I don't think I could ask for a better way to start the rest of our lives together."

Reed and Brighton have been together for four years before getting engaged. The couple loves New York City and hopes to live there one day. They celebrated the proposal with Thompson's brother Nolan and mother Ashley White, as well as Reed's mother, sister Mia, and brother Cole.
