Jamal's (Jussie Smollett) ex-boyfriend Michael (Rafael de la Fuente) will make a comeback in the second half of "Empire" season 2.

In the past, the musician had his heart broken when he caught Michael cheating on him. He and one of the company's artists where making out on the deck of Jamal's apartment. Jamal threw them out of his home and ended the relationship. Michael has not been seen around ever since, but TV Line reports that viewers will see him again soon in the series.

Executive producer Ilene Chaiken said in her interview that Jamal's "great love" would return to shake things up for him. It remains a mystery, though, if there is a reunion slated for the former lovers. Ever since they broke up, Jamal never dated. Perhaps, the pain is still fresh from Michael's betrayal that he does not have the courage to find someone new to love. If Michael returns to him, will he take him back?

"So far Michael has been the great love of Jamal's life. And just because they hurt each other doesn't mean they're finished with each other," the executive producer said.

Before the drama series went on its winter break, Jamal was somewhat developing a very close connection with Skye Summers (Alicia Keys). They even kissed. For a while, viewers thought Jamal has finally fallen in love with a woman. But in the finale, he told the hopeful Skye that he was still gay. Although disappointed, the singer accepted his decision.

Meanwhile, the other Lyon child, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray), will be facing a different problem of his own. When he decided to sell his father out and let Mimi (Marisa Tomei) and Camilla (Naomi Campbell) use him as a puppet, he incurred the wrath of the entire family. Hakeem wanted to spite Lucious (Terrence Howard) and become the new CEO of Empire Entertainment.

The new promo for season 2B shows an unrecognizable Hakeem. In the clip, Lucious is warning Hakeem to be careful, as the next time they see each other, he will kill him. Totally unfazed, the younger man brings out a gun and points it at his father. It appears that the other side has succeeded in brainwashing Hakeem. Will he really be the reason for Lucious' downfall?

"Empire" season 2 will return on Wednesday, March 30, at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
