Good news for fans awaiting "Fallout 4's" Patch 1.8, which will finally allow mod support on the game and improve gameplay.

This release was a long time coming after it was reported that Sony previously kept Bethesda from providing mod support for the PS4 versions before. PC and Xbox gamers have long enjoyed mod support from the studio.

"We and Sony have worked hard to make this possible. We are excited finally to get modding to our PlayStation fans who have supported us for so long. Modding has been an important part of our games for over 10 years, and we hope to do even more in the coming year for all our players, regardless of platform," Bethesda and Sony announced in a joint statement.

Aside from "Fallout 4," Bethesda will also provide mod support for "Skyrim Special Edition."

Among the issues that will be fixed by Patch 1.8 are issues with sounds effects after loading in an area. The game will also refrain from crashing when players exit to the main menu while starting a new game. The issues with spaces in Mods search queries will also be addressed by the patch.

Bethesda also advises players that they cannot rate Work In Progress Mods, as they would need to fully download a mod before it could be rated. The patch also fixes a crash that occurs when a Mod has an unexpected data structure

Issues with Library and or Favorite Mods categories that do not display correctly in certain situations will also be minimized. It also fixed issues in which some Mods images would not load while scrolling quickly.

Meanwhile, there are reports that despite the agreement for mod support, the mods that will be available for Playstation users will be slightly smaller in size than those being enjoyed by players of PC and Xbox.
