The PS4 Pro has already launched, and some games already come with PS4 Pro support, allowing them to take advantage of the console's additional power to guarantee higher framerates, 4K resolution support, and more. Bethesda Softworks now confirms that "Fallout 4" is going to get the same support soon.
Announcing on Twitter, Bethesda stated that players can expect PS4 Pro support to come in their next patch update. Unfortunately, Bethesda did not announce when this patch update would release, although it is expected to be before the end of the year.
Bethesda also did not announce specific kinds of upgrades "Fallout 4" would experience when played on a PS4 Pro. According to Gamespot they merely mentioned better lighting and graphic updates. Some of the more expected upgrades include 4K resolution support, a consistent 60 fps framerate, additional graphical effects, and faster processing to reduce stuttering while playing.
The developers did just release patch 1.8, and this patch finally unlocks mod support for "Fallout 4" on PS4. However, as with "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" on PS4, only mods without external assets will be accepted, and the PS4 version is limited to just 1 GB of mod content.
Given that patch 1.8 was just released, it is speculated that the PS4 Pro patch is going to roll out sometime in December, before the holidays. However, Bethesda has yet to confirm or deny this rumor, and it is possible that the patch will be pushed back to early 2017.
Fans speculate that the patch may be pushed back to avoid issues with the PS4 Pro. "Star Wars Battlefront" received PS4 Pro support, but in later updates, gamers started experiencing stuttering issues and reduced framerates, making the PS4 Pro mode a detriment instead of an improvement over the original PS4 version.
Bethesda Softworks has not yet announced if the game would also receive similar patch updates for the Xbox Project Scorpio, which launches in 2018.
