Its third season may not have begun airing yet, but AMC has already greenlit the fourth season of "Fear The Walking Dead."

The announcement came on the heels of Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, both of whom are from "Once Upon a Time," joining "Fear The Walking Dead" as co-showrunners alongside Scott M. Gimple, the executive producer of "The Walking Dead." Chambliss and Goldberg will be taking over Dave Erickson, who left the show after the third season in order to produce new shows for the AMC network.

"We're very excited to continue the journey of 'Fear The Walking Dead,' and truly look forward to working with the talented team of Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, and Scott M. Gimple," said Joel Stillerman, the president of original programming for AMC and SundanceTV, in a statement.

For their part, Chambliss and Goldberg said, "We are thrilled to be joining 'Fear The Walking Dead,' and couldn't be more excited to work alongside the wonderful team at AMC on this show."

They added that "We love this universe and are truly honored to have the chance to contribute to it."

The show's fourth season renewal came even after "Fear The Walking Dead" saw its ratings decline in its second season. Despite the plunge, it is still the second most watched show on AMC, just behind "The Walking Dead."

Season 3 of "Fear The Walking Dead" will see the show's protagonists attempting to cross the US–Mexico border, only to encounter opposition from a para-military group. Madison (Kim Dickens) and Travis (Cliff Curtis) will be reunited, while Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) will be haunted by her murder of Andres (Raul Casso). The synopsis also stated that Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) will set his eyes on exploiting the currency of the new world order.

Season 3 of "Fear The Walking Dead" will premiere on June 4, Sunday, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC. No date has been given yet on when the fourth season will begin airing.
