Square Enix has yet to come out with release timeline for its upcoming "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" game. Speculations suggest that the title's release is likely to be adjusted, as the game will also launch for the PS4 Pro and Nintendo Switch.

According to Gamenguide, rumors suggest that Square Enix is going back to the drawing board for "Final Fantasy 7 Remake." Supposedly, although the game is already in development for the current-gen consoles, the developer has to start from scratch for upcoming systems. Interestingly, this hints that the game is likely to be additionally launched for the PS4 Pro, as well as the Nintendo Switch. There is even a high chance that the title may be made compatible with the much-rumored Xbox Project Scorpio.

Meanwhile, as the developer has not made any commitments on when fans can expect "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," some observers predict that the game is likely to come out in 2018 at the earliest. Attack of the Fanboy mentions that Square Enix will only start to announce confirmed details next year, starting with game director Tetsuya Nomura's appearance in the "Monaco Anime Game International Conferences 2017" (MAGIC) trade show. In addition, with "Final Fantasy XV" coming out late this year, and with a new "Kingdon Hearts" title slated for 2017 release, Square Enix is likely to schedule "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" after the two franchise installments have been launched.

As for the release schedule itself, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will likely get a staggered launch, starting with the early part of 2018 and finishing year-end, or even throughout the first half of 2019. It is already confirmed that rather than releasing the game as a single title, Square Enix opted to launch "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" as a multi-part series, with story episodes releasing on arranged schedules. It is unclear yet how many episodes will comprise the whole game.
