Fired ESPN analyst Curt Schilling on bathroom row: Perverts, not transgenders, are the problem

Sports analyst Curt Schilling was fired by ESPN after he posted a sarcastic photo showing his support for North Carolina's controversial House Bill 2, which bans cities in the state from enacting ordinances that would allow people to use whatever public bathroom they prefer.

The photo, which was posted on his Facebook page, showed a heavy-set man wearing a wig and women's clothing with parts of the T-shirt cut out to expose his breasts. It says: "LET HIM IN! to the restroom with your daughter or else you're a narrow-minded, judgmental, unloving racist bigot who needs to die."

After he was fired by ESPN, Schilling spoke to Louder With Crowder online news outlet. He said he foresees a lot of "woeful scenarios" if the pro-LGBT people persist on protesting against House Bill 2.

"Transgenders aren't pedophiles, that's not the problem! It's the pervert men who are the problem," Schilling said.

"Everybody's talking. People are going to get raped in women's bathrooms," he went on. "What's going to happen—it's already happened—but it's going to happen one time in a big way, somebody is going to get molested in a women's room, and it's going to be a child, and some scum-bag, pervert child molester is going to go to jail and the transgender community is going to be in a place they never, ever wanted to be, because they're going to have to be defending their right to use a bathroom, which opens up the door."

Schilling said men's bathrooms are designed for men, and that is why they placed urinals there. There is nothing "transphobic" about stating that fact, he said, adding that his Facebook post was not an intended hit against the LGBT community.

"Here's the problem. First of all, nothing I said was trans, number one. I had multiple trans employees who were some of the best people I worked with. My youngest son helps run the LGBT club. Here's the thing. I've come to realize the reason people get pissed is because we don't make it a big a deal as they do," he said.
