"Fullmetal Alchemist" is one of the most popular Japanese manga-series-turned-anime. Now it is turned into a live-action movie and features actor/singer Ryōsuke Yamada as one of the alchemist brothers, Edward Elric.

The recently released teaser trailer is merely 30 seconds long and mostly computer generated scenes. It does not reveal much except for the Transmutation Circle, but it is still enough for die-hard fans.

According to Anime News Network, the translated captions on the trailer says: "The time has come ... Two brothers' great journey. The legend finally begins."

Principal photography took place in Volterra, Italy and has wrapped up on Aug. 26. Fumihiko Sori (known for "Ping Pong") took the helm and openly admitted that he wanted to be faithful to the manga and will alter very little as possible, Kotaku previously reported.

Sori said: "I want to create a style that follows the original manga as much as possible. The cast is entirely Japanese, but the cultural background is Europe. However, it's a style that doesn't represent a specific race or country. There will never be a scene in which a character says something that would identify him/her as Japanese."

Aside from Yamada, the upcoming live-action film will also star Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockbell and Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang. Additionally, it will also include Fumiyo Kohinata as General Hakuro, Ryuta Sato as Maes Hughes, Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye, Natsuna as Maria Ross, and Natsuki Harada as Gracia Hughes. Yo Oizumi as Shou Tucker, Jun Kunimura as Doctor Marco, Yasuko Matsuyuki as Lust, Kanata Hongou as Envy, Shinji Uchiyama as Gluttony, and Kenjiro Ishimaru as Father Cornello will also join the cast.

"Fullmetal Alchemist" was written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa and ran from 2001 up until 2010. The monthly Shonen Gangan magazine published the series during its run.

The "Fullmetal Alchemist" live-action movie is scheduled to be released in Japan in 2017.
