Game of Thrones season 4 release date April 6, 2014; HBO's Boardwalk Empire to end after season 5

The Games of Thrones season 4 release date has finally been revealed!

The fourth season of the popular fantasy series will be premiering on HBO at 9p.m. ET on April 6, 2014.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the first full-length official trailer for the new series will be available this Sunday, January 12, just before the premiere of new HBO drama "True Detective."

Following the Game of Thrones season 4 premiere, the third season of "Veep" will air at 10p.m.

Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama TV series based on an adaptation of the fantasy novels "A Snog of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin.

The U.S. premiere of the drama was on April 27, 2011.

Meanwhile HBO confirmed that Boardwalk Empire will be ending in 2014. Series creator Terrence Winter stated: "After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we've decided to wrap the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion."
