God Is Closer Than You Think – John Ortberg

The Book 'God is Closer Than You Think' is based on the belief that God is near and it is really possible to know him if you seek him and want to feel his presence. The book tells us that God is close and really present right here and right now. He is closer than we think.

John Ortberg, teaching pastor at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in California and author of the book expresses and suggests believing that God is closer than we even think and that we can find him in everything that surrounds us. As a pastor approaching his flock, the author teaches readers to seek God even in their daily and mundane lives.

"The Spirit of God is available to you and me: following all the time, welling up within us, quenching with a series of ideas and activities to begin to change the way they see God in their lives."

The book was inspired by two works of art. One is Michelangelo Buonarroti’s brilliant painting of God and Adam on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, and the second one is Martin Hanford’s cartoon character Waldo.

Even though God is present on every page of our lives, it is not so easy to meet him. John Ortberg shares a little of his personal experiences and teaches us to obey his promptings - though not new, he provide readers with a series of ideas and activities to begin to change the way they see God in their lives.

Showing, how we can enjoy a vibrant, moment-by-moment relationship with the heavenly Father, not as some abstract theological concept, but real-intimate connection with a deep and personal God, that the Bible teaches us about.
