Golden Globes 2015: Winners and results to be announced tonight

The 2015 Golden Globe award ceremony will take place Jan. 11. This year's Golden Globes will be hosted by comediennes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and will be airing live on ABC from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills at 6 p.m. ET.

The Golden Globes is the next best thing to the Academy Awards, which combines TV and film.

This will be Fey and Poehler's third time to host the awards show. But as always, Poehler made a joke about it when she confirmed her hosting gig on The Today Show. She said that it was sad news and then said, "Unless you want to be a perennial host, there's nowhere to go but down."

Meanwhile, the Golden Globes is actually the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Awards. The HFPA is the body that decides who gets nominated. It is an organization of international journalists who represent 55 countries across the different continents. They are composed of 90 members who actively participate in over 300 interviews, film and TV screenings every year.

The Golden Globe nominees were revealed last Dec. 12, 2014. There are 25 award categories in total, 14 for film and 11 for TV. The final voting stage started Dec. 22 and ended Jan. 7.

It is quite a free-for-all this year as surprising contenders made the list, while the expected nominees are nowhere to be found. "Homeland" got snubbed for Best TV Drama and only Claire Danes got recognized for her acting prowess. "Game of Thrones" is also nominated in the same category, but predictions go to "The Affair" as the winner.

Meanwhile, in film, the Best Motion Drama might go to "Selma." "Birdman" also has a good chance of raking in most of the awards they are nominated for. The complete list of nominess has been posted here. "Selma" or "Into the Woods" have 'accidentally' been revealed to win Best Picture.

Be sure to catch the live stream of the Golden Globe award ceremony on NBC.com.

Suicide is a sin - why can't we say so?
Suicide is a sin - why can't we say so?

It might just be me, but amongst all the myriad and somewhat valid objections raised, including by Christians, to "Assisted Dying" (read "Doctors Killing Patients" or "Doctors Helping Patients to Kill Themselves"), I haven't really seen the most important, indeed the all-decisive, one.
