Google just added an extra function on its Flights application that can predict flight delays even before announcement from airlines. The Google app will also provide detailed flight information for Basic Economy bookings.

Google Flight Product Managers Anket Mathur and Grace Danciu said the new functions will create a more stress-free booking and flying experience for customers. Mathur and Danciu, through a Google blog post, said, "Google Flights can now help you predict those flight delays, and we're also introducing a new feature to help you feel confident finding the cheapest fare no matter where you're going."

Google Flights is now able to provide not only delayed flights but also predictions on possible delays with reasons to back them up. "Using historic flight status data, our machine learning algorithms can predict some delays even when this information isn't available from airlines yet," Google wrote. It was also mentioned that Google will only flag delays if they are 80 percent sure about its predictions.

Google will also help passengers on a budget pick out the best and cheapest flight deal there is. Other than just merely price rates, the app will also list all services and options like leg room, baggage fees, free seating selection, and more. This will allow passengers to book the best deals with affordable price rates and package deals.

The flight booking feature is currently available only for American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines. There are still no updates from Google if its flight booking function will be available on other airline companies as well.

Google concluded the blog post with, "Don't let uncertainty whether it's understanding the fine print of fare options or navigating potential delays keep you from your next vacation. We'll help you get to those sunnier skies."

The new Google Flights feature has been well received by many.
