Fans are still waiting for the official news from GoPro concerning the release of the next action camera in the Hero series, the GoPro Hero 5.

Initially, several reports stated that the Hero 5 was supposed to be released in October, but apparently, the company has not done so. Several news outlets reported that the Hero 4 successor is set to be released this 2016.

The delay in release is reportedly due to an upgrade given to the specs of Hero 5. GoPro is said to have incorporated major changes to make the upcoming action camera stand out from its predecessors and rivals.

As previously reported, Hero 5 is expected to be lighter than the previous cameras of the Hero series. This would mean that the next GoPro camera is much easier to carry around, making it a more convenient device for adventurers.

Rumors have it that the camera will have a size that is 50 percent smaller than the Hero 4.

Rumors also suggest that the Hero 5 will also be capable of shooting 8K full HD videos, which means that it has almost twice the shooting capability of Hero 4.

It was also mentioned in various reports that the Hero 5 can shoot more than 30 frames per second (fps), the highest frame rate for high resolutions seen in previous models. In addition, the upcoming GoPro release is said to capture 4K videos at 60 fps.

Apart from the remarkable shooting capabilities, the Hero 5 is expected to be a best friend for underwater enthusiasts. Ecumenical News previously reported that the waterproof ability of the camera has been enhanced, allowing the device to be taken 60 meters deep into the water.

It is also expected that to support the waterproof feature, the camera will have a special case for diving purposes.

The delay of the Hero 5 is surely getting all the fans excited as to what the next camera will really offer. GoPro is set to release its drone called GoPro Karma sometime in 2016 and it's speculated that the Hero 5 will also be released by then.
