Rockstar Games has continued to provide new contents for "Grand Theft Auto V" since last year, although the fans' clamor for a new entry in the "GTA" series still remains. It is highly speculated that "Grand Theft Auto VI" will be released by the game studio very soon, with others believing that game title will be out as early as next year. However, with Rockstar also focused on the development of yet another big title, "Red Dead Redemption 2," the fans would have to be a little more patient.

As reported by Inquisitr, it is now getting more unlikely that Rockstar will be able to launch the next installment in the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise in 2018. This is because the studio will become busier in the coming months as the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" nears. To recall, Rockstar initially announced that the Western cowboy-themed video game would be released later this year, only to be postponed to 2018. The exact release period of "Red Dead Redemption 2" is not yet specified, thus giving more uncertainty to the production of "GTA VI."

Previous rumors suggested that "Grand Theft Auto VI" could be released in 2018, given that a new "GTA" installment is usually revealed five years after the previous title. There was a five-year gap between the release dates of "Grand Theft Auto IV" and "Grand Theft Auto V," and given that the current game was released in 2013, it is likely that Rockstar will launch "GTA VI" in 2018. Unfortunately, with "Red Dead Redemption 2" now in the cards, this may no longer be the case.

According to the latest reports, "Grand Theft Auto VI" could be the biggest game yet in the "GTA" series, and Rockstar will need all the time and resources that they have to produce the title. It is estimated that "GTA VI" would be a multi-million project, something that might be too much for Rockstar Games at this point. To note, "Grand Theft Auto V" cost the studio a staggering $265 million, and with rumored features such as VR and AR support in "GTA VI," the production cost is expected to be much expensive.

It is likely that Rockstar Games will need all the time and resources that they have to create "Grand Theft Auto VI," and as the game has yet to enter production, it is normal for the studio to not mention anything about a new "GTA" sequel. For now, it is believed that "GTA VI" will be released in 2020.
