The struggle this 2015 National Football League (NFL) regular season continues for Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy who suffered a groin injury in Sunday's 37–29 defeat to the unbeaten Carolina Panthers.

According to ESPN, Lacy left in the third quarter of the game against the Panthers due to the injury and was unable to check back in.

Lacy's injury is the second for him this 2015 season as he also sprained his right ankle in their Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Before leaving in their game against Carolina, the 25-year-old had five carries for 10 yards, which is another subpar performance for someone who is known as an explosive offensive player and was the Associated Press (AP) NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2013.

This season in eight games played, Lacy is struggling, only having 83 carries for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Such is still far from his performance last season when he had 246 carries for 1,139 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games.

The injury is tough news for the Packers since they need all their offensive players to bounce back after losing two consecutive times following a hot six-game winning streak to begin the season.

After showing dominance in their first six games, Green Bay collapsed against the Denver Broncos and Panthers in Week 8 and 9.

Now that Lacy is injured, taking his place as the Packers' leading rusher is James Starks who has been performing very well in their past few games.

Playing in all eight games for Green Bay this season, Starks has 78 carries for 334 yards and one touchdown. Because Lacy's injury keeps him uncertain, Starks will have the chance to step up and continue leading the Packers' rushing.

The Packers will have the chance to get back on the winning track when they return where they are almost unstoppable, Lambeau Field, and take on the Detroit Lions this Sunday.
