'Hannibal' season 3 spoilers: A new killer emerges in episode 8

A new killers emerges in the eighth episode of "Hannibal." NBC

NBC's psychological thriller-horror series "Hannibal" will take a new turn as it ushers the eighth episode titled "The Great Red Dragon."

The Hannibal Lectern (Mads Mikkelsen) saga will pick up three years later with the forensic psychiatrist still imprisoned at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Spoiler Guide reveals that at this point, a new serial killer called "The Tooth Fairy" will emerge.

In the Thomas Harris novel, the executioner who terrorized the South was Francis Dolarhyde. He was obsessed with William Blake's painting, "The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed in Sun," that he took the alias of "The Great Red Dragon" for his alternate personality. Francis was known for murdering entire families, without a hint of mercy.

"Red Dragon" is the first Hannibal Lecter book that introduced Dr. Lecter, Jack Crawford and Will Graham to the world. The book was published seven years before "Silence of the Lambs."

In episode 8 of the TV series, viewers will see Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) starting a new life outside the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He has already moved on and in a healthy relationship with Molly Foster (Nina Arianda). However, due to the appearance of a new serial killer, he will again be tapped by Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) to aid in the new investigation.

Zap2it reports that the Dolarhyde case will eventually bring Will back to Lecter to seek for his advice regarding the profile of "The Great Red Dragon." Hannibal will work from imprisonment as a serial killer consultant and in this case, he will be an ally.

In the show's promo, the doctor will be seen warning Will from inside his plexiglass prison that the killer will think the criminal profiler is "as much a monster as you think he is."

"Hannibal" episode 8 airs on Thursday at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
