Harper Lee's private letters reveal insights into the 'To Kill a Mockingbird' author's views on fans and even presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The reclusive author's wit and humor are evident in the assortment of 29 letters auctioned this week by Nate D. Sanders a month after her death, reports People.

In one of the letters, the author even joked about presidential candidate Donald Trump's Atlantic City hotel: "The worst punishment God can devise for this sinner is to make her spirit reside eternally at the Trump Taj Mahal."

The letters were penned by Lee to her friends Doris and Bill Leapard as well as her pen pal Don Salter in the 90s.

The letters are a mix of handwritten and typewritten notes but all of them have been signed by the author.

In one of the letters, Lee expressed her disappointment with fans asking her for gifts like signed copies of her books or even cash to purchase TV-VCR machines.

"You will never believe what people take it into their heads to ask for: everything from, 'Send two autographed first editions of Mockingbird' to 'Send $850 to help me get a new TV-VCR machine so I can look at the movie.' They don't even say please...' " she said.

In another, she shared one incident at a restaurant where she couldn't stop laughing for no apparent reason. She was so tickled that she had to write about it.

The topics covered in the notes range from social commentaries and her views on the literary scene in the South, to the lighter aspects of life.

Harper Lee, who won a Pulitzer Prize for 'To Kill a Mockingbird', penned a sequel to the novel entitled 'Go Set a Watchman' last year. She died at the age of 89.

More recently, I’ve enjoyed Christian movies Unsung Hero and Jesus Revolution on limited release in the UK, but it’s rare for such films to make the multiplex chains.
