Actress Helena Bonham Carter might just have given a subtle nod to address the rumors about her taking on the role of Princess Margaret on the hit Netflix series "The Crown." At the 2018 EE BAFTA Film Awards last Feb. 19, Bonham Carter arrived in a black dress with a scene-stealing accessory: a bag emblazoned with a crown and the word "Queen." This spiraled into more speculation about the Royal role as the Oscar nominated actress has all but confirmed her participation in the third season of "The Crown."

The actress reportedly wore black in support of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements that both champion equal rights and anti-sexual harassment and abuse.

Actress Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret in the first two seasons, recently posted a photo of her together with Bonham Carter. The caption simply states "Honoured @thecrownnetflix," but this further fueled the rumors about the recasting set to happen for the upcoming season.

As the series employs time jumps in moving forward with the storyline set in the 1970s, the role of Queen Elizabeth II has already been passed on to actress Olivia Colman who won a Golden Globe for "The Night Manager." The role of Prince Philip, previously played by Matt Smith, will no longer go to Paul Bettany as earlier related due to scheduling conflicts.

While much is still up in the air regarding the season, viewers can expect a chapter in the Royal Family's story that does not really need to be kept a secret. The much-discussed divorce of Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon will be a central plotline in season 3. Princess Margaret is the first royal divorcee since Princess Victoria of Edinburgh in 1901.

With the show lacking a full cast, filming is set to begin in July of this year. Netflix still has not reportedly ordered season 3 of "The Crown," but according to BBC, the series is set to air in 2019.
