'High School Musical 4' release date, cast news: 'Fifty Shades Freed' to make Zac Efron cameo impossible?

Fans are eagerly awaiting news of whether Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens will come together once again for the next installment of High School Musical, but there may be some bad news for Efron worshippers.

It has been 10 long years since Disney's hit movie High School Musical first bounced into the lives of millions of young people.

While fans would love to see one of the best onscreen couples appear together again, it seems Efron may not even be able to appear in a cameo.

There are rumors circulating that Jamie Dornan may be replaced as Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades Freed" as he tends to his wife, Amelia Warner, who is suffering from postpartum depression.

There are rumors that Efron would be his replacement and if this were to be true, it would prevent him from making a cameo appearance in High School Musical 4.

Nothing's fixed yet though, despite persistent rumors that Efron and Hudgens have been spotted filming together.

There was also a rumored leaked script that got tongues wagging about the plot as it seemed to suggest a lead character called Peyton.

According to the leaked script, the character says, "Luckily I've got sports to keep me going. My family moves a lot for my dad's job. Not great for making friends. But sports? They're always there for me."

"I've got a jersey for every mood. Am I feeling Basketball 'FUN,' Football 'TOUGH' or Soccer 'FOCUSED?' Which one says, 'Today's the Start of Something New...YET AGAIN'....??"

Meanwhile, Efron and Hudgens will be appearing - on the small screen at least - in another unique version the francise that made them household names.

Disney has paired up with Bad Lip Reading for a full-length TV special parodying the 2006 smash hit musical.

Bad Lip Reading are popular on YouTube with their short satirical videos, but this will be much longer at half an hour.  While they will provide the audio track, Disney will provide the footage from the movie.
