Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has dealt with many visiting diplomats when she was Secretary of State, but there is a certain kind of extraordinary visitors that she is curious about: aliens.

During a recent editorial board meeting with The Conway Daily Sun, the former first lady candidly said she believes mankind has already had close encounters with the third kind.

"I think we may have been (visited already). We don't know for sure," Clinton said, as quoted by the local newspaper.

The presidential candidate also enthusiastically proposed an investigation about alien life and possible visits on Earth if she wins this year's race to the White House.

"Yes, I'm going to get to the bottom of it," Clinton said.

She said the probe on alien existence on Earth can include Area 51, a secret military base in Nevada that has long been rumoured to contain alien remains

Clinton further said she shared her fascination with aliens with the chairman of her campaign, John Podesta, who she said enjoyed sci-fi shows.

"He has made me personally pledge we are going to get the information out," Clinton said of Podesta. "One way or another. Maybe we could have, like, a task force to go to Area 51."

It can be recalled that Hillary's ex-husband, former President Bill Clinton, has denied the existence of an alien camp in Area 51. He said the area serves as a manufacturing hub for stealth technology materials.

"There are no aliens there," he said about Area 51.

President Clinton nevertheless said he would not be surprised if aliens indeed visit Earth, believing other forms of life exist in outer space. He, however, added that he hopes this event will not be catastrophic to mankind.

"I just hope it's not like 'Independence Day,'" said Clinton, referring to a movie about an alien invasion of Earth.
