"Homeland" Season 4 Premiere Date, Spoilers: Carrie's Life after Brody- Risky Mission and Potential Romance

Showtime's "Homeland" Season 4 takes on a new direction after the third season concluded with Nicholas Brody, played by Damian Lewis, getting hanged after bringing his mission to an end.

Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes, took the new station chief position offered to her for the Central Intelligence Agency's operations in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

So far, in the two trailers released for the fourth season of "Homeland", the audience will see Carrie leaving her first-born baby behind while she takes off to the Middle East for her mission.

Despite being supposedly set in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the crew took its filming to South Africa instead, doubling as Middle East.

As Lewis' double agent character has been cut off from the storyline, a set of new actors have joined the remaining cast members. These include Corey Stoll, Laila Robbins, Raza Jaffrey and Michael O'Keefe.

In one of the trailers, Mathison and Pakistan's CIA station chief Sandy Bachman, portrayed by Stoll, were being attacked by Middle East civilians while staying inside a car.

Meanwhile, Danes has also opened up about her character's up-and-down relationship with colleague Peter Quinn, a black ops agent for the CIA who has been regularly featured in the past three seasons.

"Quinn is eager to get out of the [espionage] business and is recognizing behavior in Carrie that he himself has had in the past as an assassin, and he's concerned for her," the Emmy-award winning actress told TVLine. "So he trying to jar her into 'consciousness,' but she's reluctant to engage."

However, showrunner Alex Gansa claimed that it remains a question whether Carrie "is going to be emotionally available" to be involved in another romantic love affair.

Aside from Danes, other regular faces have reprised their roles including Rupert Friend (Quinn), Mandy Patinkin (Saul Berenson), Tracy Lett (Senator Andrew Lockhart) and Nazanin Boniadi (Fara Sherazi).

"Homeland" Season 4 is expected to put forward a total of 12 episodes with which two consecutive episodes will be aired on October 5, the show's final premiere date.
