"Horizon Zero Dawn," from "Killzone" developers Guerilla Games, was originally meant to release this year but has since been delayed to February 2017 for North America and March in Europe. As a new PS4 exclusive, the game will also come with full PS4 Pro support such as 4K resolution and higher frame rates.
A report from Digital Spy confirms that the game is not going to be released for the Xbox One and PC. The developers have had a strong relationship with Sony, and their previous games have been exclusives on Sony's consoles, such as the PS3 and the PS Vita.
Given that, it is a PS4 exclusive the game will come with full support on the PS4 Pro. Back in September, a new trailer was released to showcase the game running on the PS4 Pro, focusing on some of the enhancements such as 4K resolution, higher frame rates, better lighting, and minor graphical updates.
Trusted Reviews point out that "Horizon Zero Dawn" is a massive departure from the "Killzone" series, in a sense that it no longer focuses on futuristic science fiction and FPS action.
Instead, the game is a third-person action role-playing game, mixing the open-world of titles like "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and even "Grand Theft Auto V" with survival action from "Uncharted 4" and "Rise fo the Tomb Raider." There are minor roleplaying mechanics such as using resources to improve weapons and craft traps.
The game takes place a thousand years in the future, in a post-apocalyptic world where mankind has left the planet after machines had taken over as the dominant lifeform. For this reason, the large "animals" roaming the planet are actually machines. Players can destroy these machines and then use their parts for traps and upgrades.
Players will take control of a character named Aloy, a member of a tribe who hunt these machines for their survival. The player will also have to travel to discover the true nature of their world and what happened to cause the state of the world.
"Horizon Zero Dawn" is scheduled to roll out on Feb. 28, 2017.
