Netflix original political web television series "House of Cards" will push on for its final season without Kevin Spacey. Production for season 6 is in motion with Academy Award nominees Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane joining the cast.

Netflix announced last Thursday that production resumed for the next season after it was shut down back in October 2017 only a few months after season 5 ended. The show was forced to shut down production last year after its former star Spacey was accused of sexual allegations. Netflix and Media Rights Capital then decided to show Spacey the door.

Spacey's exit will be remedied by the arrival of Kinnear and Lane. Netflix and the show's producers have not provided much information about their characters and roles in the series. Golden Globe recipient Robin Wright will reprise her role as Claire Underwood. Other returning cast members include Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Campbell Scott, Constance Zimmer, and more.

Season 6 will be composed of eight episodes unlike all previous seasons with 13 episodes each.

"House of Cards" is one of Netflix's most successful original series with two Golden Globe awards and seven Primetime Emmy awards. One of those Golden Globe awards was awarded to Spacey back in 2015 under the category of Best Actor in a Television Series Drama.

The most recent season of the show was also well received by both critics and viewers. Season 5 got an impressive score rating of 71 percent from Rotten Tomatoes and an 8 out of 10 score from IGN.

The entire series in general got a great score of 8.9 out of 10 from IMDb and 60 percent from Metacritic for its storyline and characters.

Fans are now waiting for further announcements from Netflix about the show's exact release date and if more actors will be joining in.
