It is expected that Sprint will release a new handset dubbed as the HTC Bolt. Meanwhile, the upcoming iteration is also seen to have a global launch as the HTC 10 Evo.
According to noted tipster Evan Blass, the HTC Bolt "may be marketed globally as the HTC 10 evo." While a specific release date has not been said, it is expected that the new device will be launched through U.S. mobile carrier Sprint sometime this month. The handset has been the subject of recent supposed leaks, and it is said that the HTC Bolt passed the FCC as well.
Should there be a global launch, it is highly likely that U.S. consumers can still check out the HTC Bolt as an international, unlocked version.
Meanwhile, the device is said to be a mix of both above-average and premium specs. HTC will reportedly feature a previous-generation Snapdragon 810 chipset on the HTC Bolt. Should this prove true, the HTC Bolt will likely perform as a step-down version of the current flagship, the HTC 10. The SD 810 is only one generation removed from the SD 820 that the HTC 10 carries, and it can still be considered to be one of the flagship chipsets.
However, the Snapdragon 810 is not without issues, the most familiar of which is the heating glitch. Previous flagships carrying the chipset have been known to suffer from heating issues, particularly those that feature the first-gen SD 810 chipset.
On the other hand, the HTC Bolt is said to carry the most recent display tech, a 5.5-inch display with QHD resolution. This is clearly a step up from the full HD displays in other flagships and is likely the same display that is featured on the HTC 10.
Other purported specs include USB Type-C port, which is also said to double as an audio port, as the HTC Bolt will launch without the standard 3.5mm audio jack.
