If you're a Christian and don't feel excited, you may be missing the point

There are many misconceptions about the Christian faith to non-believers and pre-believers. One I encounter often is that walking with God is boring because of all the rules, traditions and practices. But a true journey with God is far from boring. It is in fact exciting and brings about a high level of passion to those who earnestly seek Him.

Have you ever had an experience or purchased a product that was so good that you couldn't help but tell your friends and family about it? That's exactly what walking with Jesus is like. Psalm 34:8 tells us, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!" When we are in God, we experience not a boring religion but an exhilarating revelation of a Person who has done such wonders for us.

The New Testament accounts are full of stories of people who were so excited and full of energy after encountering Jesus Christ. One notable story is that of the Samaritan woman who spoke to Jesus at the well. In John 4:28-30, after the woman had an exciting and amazing experience with Jesus, it says, "So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, 29 'Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?' They went out of the town and were coming to him."

What just happened in this story? The Samaritan woman had such energy as a result of her meeting with Jesus and coming to a knowledge of Him as the Messiah that people caught that excitement and it was deadly contagious!

If there's anyone who should be full of energy and excitement, it should be Christians. Acts 1:8 says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." The word 'power' used in this scripture is the Greek word 'dunamis' which is the same word we get the term 'dynamite' from. It's an explosive and powerful energy that comes upon us and overflows towards others.

Christianity was not ever meant to be boring. 2 Timothy 1:7 also tells us, "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." There is immense energy, excitement and passion that comes out of a relationship with Christ, and if you're not experiencing that today and you think you're a Christian, you're missing out.

The gospel is the most exciting thing that has ever happened on this planet - better than Super Bowl, falling in love, or any concert you'll ever go to. When we grasp the awesomeness of what we have received through Christ, we will naturally become energy-filled people who bring excitement into the atmosphere.
