There is a possibility that "Injustice 2," the sequel to the highly popular "Injustice: Gods Among Us" released in 2013, could include "Watchmen" characters when it gets released sometime next year.

Ed Boon, the game director from developer NetherRealm Studios, put up another leg-pulling poll for his followers. Boon asked if they want to see characters from the other DC comic book series. As expected, many of the fans answered positively to the poll. With over 20,000 votes counted, 74 percent said yes, while 26 percent declined the offer.

The original "Watchmen" characters include Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl, Rorschach, The Comedian, and Ozymandias. When Zach Snyder created an adaptation movie back in 2009, he added Silk Spectre. Allan Moore and Dave Gibbons created the popular graphic novel that was published in 1986, Comic Book News reported.

Game and comic fans would be interested to see Batman pitted against Rorschach or Doctor Manhattan versus Deathstroke. A fight between Wonder Woman and Silk Spectre or Deadshot and Night Owl would be remarkable.

However, "Injustice" fans will have to wait if "Watchmen" characters will indeed make it to the already massive roster. There are already several DC Superheroes and super villains included in the game. The studio may surprise the gaming community with an announcement during the upcoming PlayStation Experience and The Game Awards events that will happen early next month.

Meanwhile, "Injustice 2" still lacks a solid release date, but it Is speculated to be available in the first few months of 2017. According to GameStop's "Focused Marketing Calendar" for 2017 that was included in its latest earnings report, the aforementioned game and "Mass Effect: Andromeda" are both scheduled for the first quarter of the year. It also includes "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and the "Ghost in the Shell" movie.

"Injustice 2" launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A mobile version is also expected to arrive on Android and iOS devices.
