'Injustice 2' rumours: Nintendo Switch port planned?

Nintendo Switch will soon have the legendary Team Batman vs. Team Superman clash, as the creator of "Injustice 2" discusses the possibility of bringing the fighting game to the handheld console.

Ed Boon, Creative Director of NetherRealm, which is the development studio of "Injustice 2" talked about bringing the superhero brawler to Nintendo Switch at the Brazil Game Show. In Gamespot's interview with Boon, he says that despite the possibility of the game being able to run on the Switch hardware, its visual quality might experience some compromises.

"Yeah, I think at the end of the day you can make almost any game... there are inevitable compromises, but you know, you can make some version of Injustice on the Atari 2600. It's not going to be great, but I bet you can make something," Boon said in general. Still, despite Boon's optimism, NetherRealm may have to employ another developer to port the game to Switch since it may be too much for them to handle.

Boon also stated that bringing the "Injustice" franchise to the Switch would allow for fun opportunities for the players since tournaments can be held via handheld. Parallel gameplay will also be possible, one beyond the usual "who is the best DC superhero" bout that players may be enthusiastic about.

The creative director even held a Twitter poll, asking his followers which handheld console should "Injustice 2" be to port into, Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP) Vita or the Nintendo Switch. The Switch won by a majority vote with 60 percent in favor of Nintendo's handheld console.

Still, no official announcements or developments for the Switch version of "Injustice 2" have been made despite the Twitter poll taking place back in March.

"Injustice 2" is a fighting video game that was made as the sequel to 2013's "Injustice: Gods Among Us." It follows the story of Batman in his insurgency campaign against a rogue Superman who thought that killing criminals would solve his problems once and for all. Batman was forced to reconcile with Superman to stop Brainiac from absorbing the inhabitants of Earth.

"Injustice 2" has been available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS since May 11.
