iPad Air tablet fans have been waiting for a new model for quite a while already. Two Apple events have passed and there is still no trace of a new tablet from the line. However, recent rumors suggest that the company still has plans to continue the series and that the device will come with an A10X processor and 3GB of RAM.
The community believed that the iPad Air tablet has reached the end of the line when the small iPad Pro turned up. However, WCCFTech reported that there have been reports from China claiming that it is not yet the over for the series. Apple is said to be upgrading it.
The company introduced the iPad Air 2 back in October 2014, and it contains the newest chip by the tech giant, the A8X. The iPad Pro came in with the A9X processor, again the first in its lineup. It is now expected that the iPad Air 3 will be the first to feature the A10X chip. Although the chip is still unannounced, it is very likely to happen.
Additionally, the upcoming tablet may also contain a bigger RAM, rumored to be 3GB. The previous model contains 2GB. The iPad Air 3 will be a powerhouse if these two major components materialize. However, the report also pointed out that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro would be rendered useless if the powerful iPad Air tablet comes to life, unless a less powerful processor will be mixed in.
GameNGuide mentioned that the highly speculated tablet will be thinner than its previous model, at 6.1 mm. Its display may also be upgraded to 401 ppi pixel density, which is a big increase from 264 ppi. Another possibility is to use the 7000-Series aluminum, similar to the iPhone 6 and 6S Plus.
An A9X processor may also power the unit, which makes more sense if the company does not want to kill their big iPad Pro table.
Furthermore, the iPad Air 3 is also rumored to have a Smart Connector and Apple Pencil compatibility.
The iPad Air 3 might have a reveal this coming October and carry a US$500 price tag.
