Apple is finally slated to release one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year – the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S (or iPhone 5C).

The next generation iPhone is set to feature the latest mobile operating system – the iOS 7, which was introduced at the Worldwide Developer's Conference in June this year.

An unconfirmed Apple event is expected to take place Sept. 10, where the new iPhones will finally be unveiled to the world.

According to IBTimes, the iPhone 6 is expected to release on Sept. 20, while the iPhone 5S shows up on the shelves on Sept. 27.

Apple is also expected to unveil a new full-size iPad at the Sept. 10 event.

The budget iPhone 6 is expected to pack the same features as the iPhone 5. The new phone is expected to come with a scratch-proof polycarbonate shell, after complaints of the aluminum body which was prone to scratching easily. The iPhone 6 will reportedly have a plastic casing and chassis of both plastic and metal. It is expected to have the same specs as the iPhone 5, including a 4 inch retina display, A6 chip, 8 megapixel camera, but will be available in different colors –black, red, green, yellow, blue and white.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 5S is expected to have upgraded specs. Rumors suggest the phone will pack an A7 chip rather than the A6 and an upgraded, much improved battery. The iPhone 5S is also expected to feature an upgraded 12-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash. It is also rumored to feature a fingerprint sensor which will allow user's identity to be authenticated automatically.
