At an event in Cupertino, California a few days ago, Apple revealed the details for all the latest gadgets they will release this year, including the highly anticipated iPhone X and iPhone 8. While there's so much news to take in, consumers should take into consideration the specs of the devices.
With the brand-new iPhones confirmed for release soon, people can now use devices with faster processors and better cameras than the 2016's iPhone 7. Since there are three handsets arriving at once, consumers might have trouble deciding which is the best choice. To encapsulate the features of iPhone 8 and iPhone X, below are the things to consider before purchasing.
iPhone 8 is essentially more of an incremental upgrade from iPhone 7, although it features a new glass design, an updated camera, an improved display and more power under the hood. It is the first handset from the company that supports wireless charging. It also has new image signal processor, faster autofocus, and new pixel processor for better sharpness and texture.
Another feature it boasts is its six-core central processing unit (CPU) — two high-power cores and four high-efficiency cores that are faster than A10. iPhone 8 has the same powerful A11 bionic processor as the iPhone X. Its speakers are twice as loud, and the displays are True Tone, which adjusts the screen's appearance and color temperature, so it will always look pleasant to the eyes.
It is also microscopically sealed against dust and for water resistance. The displays are 4.7 and 5.5-inch, for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, respectively, and they are made of the most durable glass Apple's ever used. The iPhone 8 device continues to offer a single-lens camera, while iPhone 8 Plus features the dual-lens camera.
However, the two 8 versions are both created for augmented reality and have the same highest quality video capture. iPhone 8, which price starts at $699, is set to release on Sept. 22, but it can be pre-ordered in select countries starting on Sept. 15.
Meanwhile, the official Apple website states that its "vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen." Making the dream a reality, Apple says hello to the future with the most awaited iPhone X. The iPhone X has the same features as iPhone 8 in terms of the processor, video recording capabilities, glass, water and dust resistant, 3D Touch, storage options and fast charging. However, below are some differences.
The iPhone X redesigned the handset with a Super Retina Display. Visually, it is Apple's most impressive and futuristic handset ever, thanks to the 5.8-inch edge-to-edge OLED screen and its stainless steel frame. It is bigger than the iPhone 8, but it is fairly comfortable to use in one hand.
It also boasts the latest technology of the company, as it featured the Face ID, the biggest adjustment that users will have to get used to in years. Its facial recognition system is powered by True Depth Camera, which is used to unlock the phone. It has infrared camera, flood illuminator, front camera and dot projector, all of which scan the user's face.
All of the sensors that make the Face ID possible can also be used for Animoji, the moving emoji that mimic the user's facial expression. It also has a dual-camera with a better aperture than the iPhone 8 Plus. For the iPhone X, the price starts at $999, and it is scheduled for release on Nov. 3, but it can be pre-ordered starting on Oct. 27.
