Is former Mars Hill pastor Rob Bell writing a gender-neutral Bible as commissioned by President Obama?

A satirical article has come out online saying that U.S. President Barack Obama has signed an executive order commissioning former megachurch pastor Rob Bell to write a "gender-neutral Bible."

Bell is the former pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who sparked a huge controversy when he questioned traditional Christian beliefs on heaven, hell and the gospel in his 2011 book "Love Wins," according to The Blaze.

Bell subsequently resigned from Mars Hill but continues to speak out on everything—from his support of same-sex marriage to his claim that anyone who speaks about heaven and hell is merely dishing out unconfirmed theories.

In the satire article that appeared recently on The Christian Post, Bell was said to have been given funds by the Obama administration amounting to $7 million to research, write and publish a Bible that breaks through the barriers of gender.

This was allegedly meant to serve as a follow-up to Obama's demands that public schools allow boys to go into girls' bathrooms.

In an alleged White House press briefing, Obama was supposed to have told Bell that he is the most competent person for the job.

"Rob Bell is an excellent person, aaaaaaaaaa religious man, aaaaaaaaa smart individual who, like me, knows what it's like to be accused of not being Christian," Obama said, according to The Christian Post.

"Best of all, Bell knows how to irritate the heck out of evangelicals. And while I believe we need a country that is welcoming of all Americans, regardless of who they are, everybody and their dog knows that evangelicals, babies, and nuns don't count," Obama was supposed to have said.

After being informed of his commissioning, Bell allegedly responded by saying, "I am thrilled that THE President of our country wants me to write up a gender inclusive Bible."

"Finally, I can stop spending time ignoring the parts of the Bible I hate and instead start rewriting the parts of the Bible I hate. After all, love wins!" he was supposed to have said.

Although Obama only wanted to remove the thousands of references to men and women from the scripture, Bell was supposed to have already added a few of his own ideas for the alleged new edition of the Bible. These include editing out every reference to the term "Christian," omitting all references to eternal punishment or damnation, removing all verses that refer to homosexuality and extramarital sex as sinful, and removing Revelation 22:19.

In the Bible's New International Version, Revelation 22:19 says, "And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll."

The Christian Post concluded the article with a warning note that it was a work of satire. "Please share responsibly," it said.
