It has been a month since Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard left for Central America, and the couple seems to be adjusting well to their new life as they continue to spread the word of God during their long-term mission. The 24-year old former "19 Kids and Counting" star recently took to her Instagram account to celebrate the first month of their Central America trip.
On Aug. 6, she posted a family picture and captioned it, "Hola amigos! Thank you for your prayers and support! It's been one month since we departed the US for Central America."
She also included a link to their family blog to let her followers know what they have been up to since they left the country for their mission abroad.
In a new post on the Dillard Family blog, Jill detailed how she and her husband have impacted many lives as they visited villages and town squares to share the Gospel across the region.
"We performed dramas and programs, evangelized, helped lead a couple youth conferences, organized a regional soccer tournament, met with government officials to discuss pressing issues, worked on construction projects, and made home visits," she revealed.
Jill said that she was able to spend some time with some local ladies as she tried to learn more Spanish. She also revealed that their baby son, Israel, has adjusted well to his new life and has taken to napping in hammocks whenever there was one around.
But their mission to spread God's word is not without danger as Jill revealed that gang violence is prevalent in Central America. But because of the fear that the gangs have instilled in some of the places that they have been to, Jill said that the people have been "more open to the gospel because of it."
This month, the couple will be taking language classes so they can communicate better with the people of Central America, and they will return to the United States for a short time before they go back to the mission field.
