Keanu Reeves news: Actor to star in Netflix superhero movie directed by Rick Famuyiwa

Keanu Reeves as legendary assassin John Wick in "John Wick: Chapter 2" Summit Entertainment

After numerous action blockbusters, the most recent of which being the revolutionary "John Wick" franchise, Keanu Reeves still wants to be a superhero and is now in talks to star in Netflix's own superhero movie.

The said Netflix superhero flick is set to be directed by Rick Famuyiwa and will be titled "Past Midnight," which will be about a new kind of superhero vigilante. It is worth noting that Reeves' involvement is still not set in stone and it might take a bit of waiting before fans find out if he will take the deal, though it will probably not be the first time Reeves will take on a broken protagonist role.

As for Famuyiwa, he is best known for directing the critically acclaimed drug-related comedy movie "Dope" as well as the superhero show adaptation "The Flash." The movie will also be written by T.J. Fixman ("Ratchet and Clank") and produced by "Avengers: Infinity War" helmers  Anthony and Joe Russo. Rest assured, the said superhero movie from Netflix is in good hands and Famuyiwa is definitely no stranger to superheroes. All that is left is an actor that can carry the protagonist role.

There are, however, no details yet regarding what "Past Midnight" will be about, so fans will have to wait for the official synopsis from Netflix to find out whether Reeves will be able to bring life to the role. So far, given Keanu Reeves' work attitude and his demeanor in general, the choice for his casting might go through and it could only be a matter of time until production begins for said superhero movie, unless a scheduling conflict or fee dispute takes place.

It is also worth noting that Reeves is quite busy in another Hollywood role as well since he is set to reprise his role as John Wick in the third movie. Expectations are high for that one and a lot of pressure is placed not only on Reeves but the filmmakers as well. Fans are advised to stay tuned to Netflix for future announcements regarding "Past Midnight."
