Less than two weeks before the launch of "Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2," game developer Traveller's Tales and publisher Warner Bros. released a new trailer that highlights the Asgardian god Thor.

The move coincides and rides on the current success of the critically acclaimed and box-office hit "Thor: Ragnarok." Showing actual scenes from the Marvel movie, the minute-long trailer invites fans to "team up," "Thor down" and "Hulk out." The teaser was released just in time for the opening of "Thor: Ragnarok" in U.S. cinemas.

In the third installment of the god of thunder's series, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will find himself battling former ally and fellow Avenger, The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), in a deadly gladiator contest on the other side of the universe. Then he will have to race against time and defeat Hela (Cate Blanchett), the Norse goddess of death, or his home world and the rest of Asgardian civilization will be destroyed in the prophesied Ragnarok.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is expected to revive Hollywood's poor box-office sales, which Variety called the worst October in a decade. The film, which opened in 52 percent of foreign cinemas last week, has already raked in $109 million. Experts have forecast a $100 million to $118 million gross on its opening weekend across 4,080 locations in the Friday to Sunday period.

Screenrant called "Thor: Ragnarok" a breath of fresh air in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to the comedic background of director Taika Waititi. This is obviously the same departure that the Lego video game is aiming for, with the trailer maintaining its trademark humor and quirky antics.

Apart from Thor and The Hulk, "Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2" will feature Spider-Man 2099, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Kang, Captain Marvel, Groot and Rocket Raccoon in an adventure across various eras and realities. The iconic video game will launch on Nov. 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
