LG G2: Android 5.0.1 Lollipop spotted in S. Korea; US release still unknown

LG G3

Although it is pretty sure that LG G3 will receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, many doubt whether the 2013 smartphone LG G2 will get the update.

In a video allegedly from South Korea, LG G2 was spotted running with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS. This hinted that LG possibly rolled out the update in its home court.

Based on the video, the OS is running on LG G2 very smoothly and stable. Spotted in the video is the Material Design, which is the prime feature of the latest Android OS. Apart from that, nothing much is revealed in the video, but it is enough to make LG G2 users excited and on their toes.

Although LG Electronics presumably rolled out the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS update in South Korea, there is no word yet when the OS update will be delivered in the handsets in the US. Although there is no doubt that LG will roll out the update, the company is currently testing the version for the different models.

Although LG Electronics is one of the fastest Android OEM manufacturer in delivering software updates. It was quick in releasing the firmware in LG G3, but the upgrade is currently available in South Korea and Europe.

On the other hand, users complained that Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS did nothing to resolve some of the issues that plagued the OS. Some users are still complaining about the device unable to connect to networks; therefore, disabling the WiFi connection. Moreover, the new Android update makes the battery drain fast. Others are pointing that they lost some data while updating Over-The-Air, while others gave up in installing the latest Android 5.0 Lolipop OS as they were unable to complete the installation due to a "missing system.img" error message.

In the meantime, LG G2 users must wait and see until LG Electronics rolls out the update.
